Boniface is the newest alternative pop/indie artist on the scene. Real name Micah Visser, he hails from Winnipeg, Canada, and takes his artist name from the small town he grew up in. His debut single ‘I Will Not Return As A Tourist’ is impressive, building on lo-fi elements into a huge sonorous crescendo. It’s highly cinematic too, and paints a vivid picture with lyrics like ‘And lately I’ve been feeling so restless. I drove to a small town last weekend just to see where my head is. It’s not here. All I found was a lounge with a jazz singer.’ Explaining the title further, Boniface says: "The line ‘I will not return as a tourist’ is a resolution to be more active in your own life and wanting to be a participant and not an observer." ‘I Will Not Return As A Tourist’ is out now via paradYse/Transgressive. -HM
